Your Questions ANSWERED
Question: Who does your memes and why do you use them?
Answer: Some of our memes come from Build Up Dietitian followers via our Friday “Meme Challenges” or just ones people send to us like this one
others come from Build Up Dietitians founder, Leah McGrath and others are ones we spot on-line. Memes attract attention and can help to convey a message or start a conversation. (The meme below reached 37K this July during one week.)
Reactions to “Poisoned”
(Comments posted to our Facebook page. Read our original post sent out to subscribers.)
Maggie S. (Food Scientist) - “This documentary is cherry picked and one-sided…It fails to discuss the changes made in food safety. It fails to discuss the end users responsibility. It’s even said in the movie that “burden shouldn’t be with consumers”…Unfortunately ’Poisoned’ only serves to ensure the public doesn’t trust the agriculture industry, whether it’s animals, crops, or the end product.”
Janice M. - “….I admittedly watched "Poisoned" passively, and was left with the impression that it was more akin to the dramatized and highly edited true crime programs, i.e. murder shows, that set out to shock, titillate and manipulate the viewer, rather than genuinely observe and inform.”
Rebecca S. - “I thought I was going to be “shocked”, I wasn’t, you obviously need to cook chicken properly. I have backyard chickens and make sure I’m employing hygienic practices around handling them and their eggs. No different really.”

On “Functional Nutritionists”
"We have no evidence to support nutrition therapies that 'treat' functional diagnoses like leaky gut, vague hormonal imbalances, adrenal fatigue, etc. Many of these diagnoses have some basis in science but are blown out of proportion by functional nutritionists or programs that claim to certify RDs in "functional nutrition". Nutrition is a complex science that cannot be fast-tracked via a 6-12 month certification program. If the science was legitimate, it would simply be called "nutrition" and would be a part of Registered Dietitian standards of practice"
Ketchum Food Gen Z Say/Eat Gap report!
We thought this was an especially interesting part of this Ketchum report…Check out the HUGE gap between what these respondents SAY they want when it comes to sustainability and animal welfare, and what they ACTUALLY buy and eat, or as Ketchum calls it the “Say/Eat Gap”. For any who work in the retail or marketing space, this may not come as much of a surprise …and this behavior may not be age dependent. For the complete report click HERE.
