As membership drops in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the same is true of the state/regional dietetic associations and DPGs (Dietetic Practice Groups). Dietitians who once attended annual state/regional meetings may get their Continuing Education (CPEUs) on-line instead, join other professional associations or attend other conferences not affiliated with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Companies who were once eager to pay speakers to present at conferences or have displays at state/regional meetings or DPG events that attracted hundreds or thousands of dietitian/RD2B/nutrition student attendees, are more frequently doing virtual webinars or finding conferences with better attendance rates or ones that have fewer sponsorship restrictions.
