Question #1: Why did you want to become a dietitian?
“I always loved careers related to health sciences. I was torn between studying medicine and dietetics when I finished high school. Nonetheless, after speaking with a neighbour who is a dietitian, I decided to give dietetics a go as I loved the combination of science, communication skills and the love for food!”
Question #2: What’s a favorite meal from your country that YOU like to cook?
“Pozole is my favourite Mexican dish and my favourite to make! Although I have to recognise that is quite time-consuming to do! That’s why I only make it on special occasions. Pozole is a stew made with hominy, pork meat and chilies. As I live in the UK, sometimes I find it hard to find all the ingredients necessary to make the pozole…Amazon is a good place to find the necessary ingredients to prepare it.”

❓Q/A Build Up Weight Management & Bariatrics Group
Jennifer C. “No…or not yet. Our data is the same and on par this year compared to previous years. We have some who tried and did not tolerate the GLP-1’s and those who have greater amounts to lose are still wanting surgery. The research on Tirzepetide seems like it may be on par with the long-term results of weight loss we see with Bariatric surgery. So, I do wonder if the surgery numbers will go down in time.”
Jacqui S. “No, but have more patients on GLP-1 though I have not seen them lose so much weight that they no longer qualify for bariatric surgery. I do educate on how to eat/modify eating patterns and side effects while on GLPs. So, I am still seeing the same number or bariatric patients even with increased use of GLPs. We are also seeing post-op patients over a year out with either inadequate weight loss or weight regain going on them (prescribed by PCP, not bariatric surgeon).”
Sue B. “Lower overall numbers and have many pre-/post- ops on GLP-1 meds. However, the lack of GLP-1 availability and/or poor tolerance are keeping numbers from dipping too low.”
🙄“NON-GMO Project” - Just a misleading label
Fun Fact: The ‘pay for play’ label can cost a brand tens of thousands of dollars to have this label on their packaging. BUT Non-GMO Project admits on their own website that they cannot guarantee that products with this label are ‘GMO-Free’:
