🚨More Thoughts on the MAHA report

🤪“This isn’t a “landmark” report - it’s a half-arsed, error-filled document that completely disregards scientific integrity and accuracy…. Behind the MAHA smoke and mirrors lies a deeply unserious group of people who clearly only want to conduct the kind of ‘science’ that confirms their biases. They have no respect for the scientific process, because true science requires openness, rigor, and a willingness to be proven wrong. None of that aligns with their agenda, or the broader MAGA playbook...” - from Australian Dietitian, Danielle Shine
“…it was riddled with falsehoods and hallucinated AI citations–—meaning the report was not the product of genuine scientific inquiry, but a manufactured document built to justify a conclusion its authors had already settled on…Real “gold standard science” starts with a hypothesis and follows the evidence. This started with a belief and manufactured support for it (including 7 citations that don’t even exist), which is the definition of pseudoscience. Under RFK Jr’s HHS, this document is being used as the basis for public health policy in the United States. And when pseudoscience drives policy, people get hurt…" (from Jessica Knurick, PhD, RDN & Jessica Malaty Rivera, MS Joining the Call for the Immediate Resignation of RFK Jr.)
🤥“...The reality: science is the substance of any HHS report. Inventing studies isn’t science. It’s propaganda…”. (from Derek Beres Formatting errors lolololol - by Derek Beres - Siris Health)
“…It is not possible to imagine that the report authors were up to snuff with that standard level of rigorous academic detail, if they couldn’t be bothered to even check whether some of the studies were real publications in the first place. It would seem that their academic rigor stopped at the level of “does this paper’s title support the point I wanted to make?” which is antithetical to the process of good science…” . (from Dr. Noc RFK Jr.’s MAHA Scandal: The Report's Fake Citations Reveal A Deeper Problem.)
(for a really deep and thorough dive into the data a graphs in the MAHA report, be sure to check out Epi Ellie (epidemiologist Ellie Murray, ScD) so far she’s put 3 posts/parts about the MAHA report.)
“…most of the claims made by the report so far are either out-of-date, exaggerations, incorrect, or a combination of the three….”. E is for Epi | Ellie Murray, ScD | Substack
🚮“…It's just wild garbage...The first hilarious issue is that the HHS apparently does not employ anyone who can make graphs....the HHS has a budget of >$1trillion, but they can't pay a grand or two to get half-decent graphic design? Wild....the report is WILDLY misleading even when it's nominally correct.
For example, diabetes. Yes, diabetes rates are on the rise in children. However, what the report fails to note is that virtually all diagnosed diabetes is still type 1, which is not lifestyle-related....just basic epidemiological ignorance….I can't go through the entire 73-page epic in one thread but suffice to say it's one of the most unprofessional and poorly constructed things I've ever seen come out of a government department.
It's worse than the stuff you get from actual dictatorships. Just remarkable....".

👎🏽B.S. Claims of “Boosting Immunity”
From Facebook - Nick Tiller, PhD
Whether you’re seeing this kind of language from influencers, MDs or RDs, claims of being able to “boost immunity” are inflated and baseless. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18tABHcA93/
