Question #1:  Why did you want to become a dietitian?

Rachel Schichtl: “I became a dietitian because I really enjoyed the public health aspect of nutrition. While I have briefly worked in a clinical setting as well as in food service. I really like community and educational settings.”

Vicky Cora: “I was always interested in science but was unsure where and how to pursue it. After taking my first class during freshman year at college, I knew this was the path I had wanted. I am fascinated with learning what is not only healthy for me but for my family and friends. It turned into a passion to be able to help others who can lead a better lifestyle.”

Question #2: What is your current position and how did you get it?

Rachel Schichtl:“I started my career in childhood obesity prevention research, then worked as a Didactic Program Director, teaching undergraduate nutrition students. Currently, I call myself a "nutrition education consultant" and…I teach as an adjunct, review grants, as well as do nutrition course and assessment development.”

Vicky Cora: “Long story. I am/was a military spouse. I have moved around quite a bit. My current position is a fully remote dietitian. I have assisted with developing a program with a hospital to open their metabolic and bariatric program. I started out as a PRN acute care dietitian while working in a dialysis center. From there the opportunity presented itself and here I am doing what I truly enjoy!”
