📷REAL Dietitian (RD) Images
If you do a Google image search on “dietitian” you’re likely to see a lot of similar photos…mostly of women, mostly younger white women, mostly in white lab coats, many sporting stethoscopes, holding 🍎🍏apples or posing with a bowl of fruit…but what do RDs (real dietitians) look like? Above are just a few images we received when we asked for their REAL photos of dietitians in action. For those of you who think dietitians only work in clinical/hospital settings…you can find dietitians in public health, schools, academia, retail, research, the military, food service and with college and professional athletes…and many other areas.

Question #1: What is your current role/title as a dietitian and what other positions have you had as a dietitian?
“After 2 years of having an online business (Knowing Nutrition/Formula Sense), I recently started a new position with UNC Health as a pediatric outpatient dietitian at UNC Children's Primary and Specialty Care…This is my second time working for UNC Health. I was with the UNC Children's Hospital Specialty Care Clinic for seven years. Earlier in my career, I worked in public health in North Carolina. I was a dietitian at a rural health department working for WIC, a maternal health clinic, and a school health clinic. I was a nutrition supervisor in another rural county health department. My last public health position was as a Public Health Nutrition Consultant with the NC Division of Public Health, Nutrition Services Branch, the NC WIC Program State Agency.”
Question #2: What's one thing you really like about being involved with the Build Up Dietitians platform and being a moderator for the Build Up Dietitians PEDIATRICS group?
“I really like the sharing of information. Not just the actual facts, but also the way everyone shares and looks out for one another. This was especially true during the infant formula shortages.”
