4/19/24 - Are you a Content Creator or Influencer?; Spotlight - 2 Questions for Dustin Moore, PhD, RD; Dietitian Activity Book; Question from our Diabetes Group & 2 Things You May Have Missed.
📝Are you a CONTENT CREATOR?
If you write create content about food, nutrition or health like recipes, articles, or infographics for your own business use or for an employer, you could include “content creator” on your CV. Content creators and “influencers” may do some of the same things, but an “influencer” typically works with PR and marketing firms and brands to promote specific branded products to their social media followers in exchange for product or financial gain.

💡Spotlight: 2 Questions for DUSTIN MOORE, PhD, RD
Newsletter: https://substack.com/@dustinmoore
Q1: As an educator, what makes you the most hopeful about students entering nutrition fields now?
“First is that they have a sincere drive to go and make meaningful contributions in their communities…They realize that changing a life or building their immediate community is in fact making a change to the world.
Second, they're responsive to what I teach them. What I teach them is how to make more effective contributions with evidence-based practice, soft-skill development, and how to avoid many of the mistakes I've made along the way.”
Q2: You have been writing a newsletter for the past year or so. What has been the most popular piece that you have written and why do you think it garnered so much attention?
“The most popular piece I've written was "Conflicts of Interest, Corporate Partnerships, and the Dietitian", after the Washington Post released one of its (poorly reasoned) articles attacking media dietitians. The second, ironically, was another response post after WaPo's latest critique of the profession. I attribute it to fellow RDs and their expertise on the modern complexity of food and dietary patterns…Dietitians know that the story of dietetics is not simply limited to "Just tell people what to eat", and I'm happy to tell the other side of that story…”
